April 2021

Planning was submitted to reconfigure this family house. The design meets the changing needs of a growing family and makes a significant difference in how the family can enjoy both their home and garden.

Group Ginger in discussion with the owners have developed detail design proposals to resolve the relationship between the kitchen / dining areas and garden in a way which will radically transform the house. The proposals provide something distinct, unique and specific to the client. Group Ginger facilitated a discussion of how the family would like to live and work in the house, understanding the balance between social, entertainment, private retreat and working environments. The lower ground floor space provides an excellent opportunity to create a double height kitchen dining area with direct access onto the garden with a double height openable glazed facade looking out onto the private garden area. This is relatively secluded garden so overlooking was not a key concern. The existing lower ground spaces below the front of the house are re-furbished to provide supporting utility spaces, storage. The design proposals radically reconfigure the rear of the house to provide dramatic interconnected spaces which meet the family’s needs.
